After a successful residency in Las Vegas, Britney Spears has announced via Twitter that 2017 will be her last year performing her ‘Piece of Me’ show.

From teen singing sensation to loving mother-who-just-happens-to-be-an-amazing-singer, Britney Spears is a name that most people recognize instantly. She was the focus of the media for years, well before we had constant coverage with reality shows like Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Spears, who has had 34 songs make the top 100 and six No. 1 albums according to Billboard, has spent just over the last three years performing as a part of a residency in Vegas.

She announced over Twitter that 2017 would be her last year performing the “Piece of Me” show.

While it has to be hard to leave Vegas because residencies pay a ridiculous amount of money for someone to perform close to the same show night in and night out, I’m sure she is just ready to move onto something new. Spears is an extremely talented artist and we should expect big things from her in the future.

There are 18 remaining dates that start in September, so there should be time to plan for a trip to see her before she leaves if you are desperate to do so. She even has a show on New Year’s Eve for those of you who want to celebrate the new year in Las Vegas.

Will we ever get another full Britney Spears tour or even a farewell tour? Who knows, but she released an LP in the summer of 2016 so we should definitely expect some more music from Britney. While we wait for that, the former (and current) megastar will get some much deserved time off with her kids until she decides to move onto something else.
