Broncos have open quarterback competition

The starting quarterback in Denver won’t be decided on anytime soon.
The Denver Broncos have gone through some major changes ever since star quarterback Peyton Manning rode off into the sunset after his Super Bowl 50 victory for the team.
Former head coach Gary Kubiak retired shortly after the end of the season and the team hired ex-Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph to steer the team back into the postseason after missing it in 2016.
The starting quarterback entering this season is still a question mark for the Broncos, especially after missing out on Tony Romo once the star quarterback announced his retirement from the NFL. Trevor Siemian was the Broncos starter in 2016, starting 14 games for Denver while throwing for 3,401 yards,18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
The team also traded up in the first round of last year’s draft to land former Memphis stud quarterback Paxton Lynch, who started two games for the team in place of Siemian due to injury.
Joseph reiterated today that the team will have a quarterback competition for the starting spot among Siemian and Lynch.
"“It’s open guys,” Joseph said to the Denver media about the upcoming quarterback battle between Lynch and Siemian. “50-50. It’s going to come down to the wire. I hope.”"
Siemian is no stranger to a quarterback competition as he was dueling Mark Sanchez last year for the starting gig, which he ultimately ended up winning.
This season, however, could be different.
The Broncos not only invested a first-round pick into Lynch, but also traded away a draft pick to move up and select the quarterback. If Siemian does noticeably outplay Lynch, it’ll most likely be his job to lose.

Still, Siemian would be a placeholder once again for whenever Lynch is finally ready to roll.
