Former Super Bowl-winning cornerback Tracy Porter is looking for a new home.

The Chicago Bears have made an abundance of moves this offseason. The team added a lot of production to their cornerback group with the signings of Prince Amukamara and Marcus Cooper.

Those signings meant the writing was on the wall for one of the Bears current cornerbacks has the team had 13 on their 90-man roster. On Monday, the Bears announced the release of Porter after signing him to a new three-year contract just a year ago.

Porter suited up for all 16 games in 2016, but wasn’t fully healthy. He battled through knee issues throughout the season according to Bears beat writer Brad Biggs.

Porter has bounced around the league since the New Orleans Saints selected him in the second-round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He’s had short stints with the Denver Broncos, the Oakland Raiders and the Washington Redskins.

Now he hopes to latch onto his sixth team this season after being released by the Bears this morning.

Porter might not be a superstar, but you might recognize his name, especially since he has one of the best highlight plays in Super Bowl history. Porter intercepted Peyton Manning and returned it to the house for a pick six in Super Bowl XLIV to secure the victory in New Orleans first ever Super Bowl win.

The veteran has struggled to stay healthy or find any consistency in his play over his 10 seasons in the NFL. He’s had stints of dominant play and then falls off that production quickly either due to injury or just decline in production.

Porter had a very productive season in 2015 tying a career high in passes defended with 12, but was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 107 out of 111 qualifying cornerbacks in 2016.

With the NFL Draft just weeks away, we’ll see if Porter gets scooped up, but it’s more likely that he gets signed after the draft to a team that didn’t meet their cornerback needs.
