With the Ohio State Buckeyes looking to rebound after being shutout in the Fiesta Bowl, here’s what to watch for in their spring game.

If there’s one guarantee in college football, it’s that Urban Meyer won’t let the same mistakes happen twice. After an embarrassing loss to the Clemson Tigers in the Fiesta Bowl, the Ohio State Buckeyes have a big chip on their shoulder as they prepare for 2017.

On Saturday, the Buckeyes will get their first real look at what they have on the roster during their 2017 spring game. With plenty of young talent and a stacked recruiting class, the Buckeyes have quite the potential on both sides of the ball going forward.

The spring game is always a chance for players to step up and show why they deserve playing time. Positional battles are key here and it’s a chance for Meyer to see what he’s working with and to have a chance to tweak things if necessary. Here are five things to watch for on Saturday.

5. How a new secondary looks

One area that is going to be different for the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2017 is the secondary. With Malik Hooker and Marshon Lattimore departing, the Buckeyes are losing two of the best defensive backs in the nation.

The good news is that Meyer has been planning for this moment with great recruiting and talent already on the roster. Guys like Denzel Ward and Damon Webb will get their chance to step up and create the next great Ohio State secondary.

Hooker and Lattimore did a great job of effectively taking away parts of the field and being able to close on any ball thrown their way. This new secondary will take time to click but has the talent to be just as special.
