The Tennessee Volunteers are coming off a surprisingly strong season in the SEC. When’s their 2017 spring game?
In 2016, the Tennessee Volunteers football team won their first five games. These five wins included a victory at home over Florida and a victory on the road at Georgia. However, they went 3-4 the rest of the regular season. The Volunteers ended their season on a good note with a win over Nebraska in the Music City Bowl.
However, they’ll be losing a number of starters from their team. The Volunteers must replace Derek Barnett, starting quarterback Josh Dobbs and starting running back Alvin Kamara. They also must find replacements for cornerback Cameron Sutton, wide receiver Josh Malone and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin.
Quarterback Quinten Dormady is expected to get first dibs on the starting quarterback job. The upcoming junior will face some competition, but none of his competitors have experience. Dormady has completed 24 of 39 passes during his career for 357 passing yards and a touchdown pass.
Running back John Kelly will be competing to see who gets Kamara’s carries. Tennessee has an impressive recruiting class they’ll bring in as they try to build on their success from last season. Trey Smith, Maleik Grey and Ty Chandler lead one of the better recruiting classes in the SEC.
