When will Huskies fans be able to see the Washington Football Spring Game?

The Washington Huskies had a successful 2016 college football season. They faced some difficulties getting into the College Football Playoff but ended up claiming one of the four spots. This allowed them to battle for a National Championship, facing No. 1 Alabama in the semifinal. However, the Huskies lost and were sent home to prep for the next year.

Jake Browning will return as the starting quarterback. He had a phenomenal season for Washington, throwing for 3,340 yards and 43 touchdowns. The impending junior had a tough stretch at the end of the year, however, having three multi-interception games and three outings of below 60 percent completion rate. It ended up being attributed to an injury.

Browning has been treated carefully through spring practice, so we’ll see how much of a look he receives on Apr. 22, if any. If he does step into the game, don’t look for much from him, as it wouldn’t be worth risking further injury in a contest that won’t affect him.

Washington’s spring season will wrap up on Saturday, Apr. 22 at 3:00 p.m. ET with their annual intrasquad game. It will see the latest incarnation of the Huskies take the field, show off improved skills and battle for starting spots for the 2017 college football season.

Following the game, Chris Petersen’s team will have five months to prepare for the season opener. This will see them face Rutgers on Friday, Sep. 1 in Piscataway Township, NJ. While it’s a true road game, the Scarlet Knights struggled mightily in 2016, so it may be an easy one for Washington before they head home for the next two weeks. It’s still a long time away, but preparations for all of this has begun and will continue with the spring game.
