When will the Wisconsin Badgers have their spring game in 2017 as they look to improve on last season?
In 2016, the Wisconsin football team put up an 11-3 record. They also won the Cotton Bowl 24-16 over Western Michigan. However, the Badgers fell short of their goal of winning the Big 10 Conference. This was done by Penn State, who beat them 38-31. This put an end to their hopes of making it to the playoffs. In 2017, the Badgers will hope to improve upon their record.
Alex Hornibrook is expected to take over the starting quarterback role after replacing Bart Houston last season. He completed 58.6 percent of his passes for 1,262 passing yards. Hornibrook threw for nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. With a full offseason to prepare, he should be ready to handle the starting role.
Both of their leading rushers from 2016 are graduating. Seniors Corey Clement and Dare Ogunbowale combined to rush for nearly 2,000 yards. Backup running back Bradrick Shaw is expected to play a huge role in replacing the duo.
As usual, the Badgers will rely heavily on their running game, so replacing Clement and Ogunbowale is key. Their offensive line should help make the transition much easier. The Badgers are bringing in several highly touted offensive line prospects to keep their tradition of running the ball strong.
