Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League clash with Monaco was canceled after an incident on Dortmund’s team bus left one injured.

Borussia Dortmund’s team bus was attacked ahead of the team’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Monaco on Tuesday. The incident, initially reported by Bild and later confirmed by the club’s official Twitter account, took place six miles away from Dortmund’s stadium.

Marc Bartra, Dortmund’s center-back, sustained injuries to his hand and was taken to hospital. The injuries are not thought to be serious, and all of Dortmund’s players were reported to be safe by the club’s official Twitter account.

The authorities have asked people to not speculate on the matter and to wait for an official announcement regarding the details of the incident. The match has officially been canceled, and will be replayed Wednesday, April 12 at 12:45 p.m. ET.

Dortmund made an announcement inside their stadium as fans of both teams waited anxiously for news regarding the incident. Monaco fans were reportedly singing “Dortmund” to show support and solidarity for their opponents, per BT Sports reporter Archie Rhind-Tutt:

The initial response to the incident has been confusion, as the watching world tries to piece together the details of the incident. The good news is Bartra’s injuries are thought to be minor, and the relevant authorities are confident enough to proceed with the match on Wednesday.

As for speculation regarding the details, which has ranged from firecrackers to bombs, the best option is to wait until something official is announced.
