Is The Fate of the Furious in IMAX? We tell you if you can experience the latest Fast & Furious’film in IMAX and how to get your tickets.

It would seem like a no-brainer to have The Fate of the Furious in IMAX, considering that the eighth film in the Fast & Furious franchise is the very definition of “blockbuster movie.” So you’ll be relieved to know that yes, Fast 8 is coming to you in IMAX.

IMAX showings of The Fate of the Furious begin on Thursday, April 13 as early as 10 p.m., before the film formally opens on Friday, April 14. Advance tickets are on sale now here, where you can also find out which theaters are showing the film in IMAX in your area and when the showtimes are.

Note that showtimes for the Thursday night screenings vary, with theaters running the film at odd times like 10:10 p.m. and 11:08 p.m., so be sure you know what time you’re buying tickets for.

The IMAX release of The Fate of the Furious is just over two years from the April 10, 2015 bow of its predecessor Furious 7 in IMAX 3D.

Fast & Furious 6 was also released in IMAX, but only as a limited engagement. That was the first film in the franchise to get the upgrade; now four years later it’s par for the course, as is the case with most major studio franchises. How technology flies.

But if there’s any film series that needs the IMAX treatment it’s this one. The Fate of the Furious is built on huge stunts and massive special effects, including scenes from the trailer that take place in Siberia, so this is a movie that pretty much demands to be released in the most top-notch way possible.
