The Dallas Mavericks introduced retired Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo with their starting lineup during intros on Tuesday night.

In one of the more strange retirement tour celebrations, the Dallas Mavericks decided to have Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo suit up with the team on Tuesday night. While he couldn’t play, Romo got to be in full uniform and take part in warmups with the team. It’s certainly something new and unique to say the least.

Romo was having a blast out on the court with the Mavericks, including even hitting some shots over some of the players. Then to finish things off for the newly retired quarterback, the Mavericks decided to introduce him with the starting lineup during introductions.

It’s safe to say that there haven’t been very many moments like this before in sports. It goes to show what Romo means to the city and the class of the Mavericks to bring him in and honor him in this way.

It will be interesting to see if any other sports teams follow suit in the future when an athlete retires in a particular city. Perhaps the Texas Rangers can have Romo over to take batting practice this week or field fly balls.

It might be a tad bit hokey and strange, but it’s different and that’s not a bad thing. He looked like he was genuinely having fun out there and after all the hits and everything he gave the Cowboys, he certainly earned his opportunity to be introduced to a roaring crowd.
