The Seattle Seahawks landed a former top-three pick on Tuesday afternoon, signing defensive end Dion Jordan.

The Seattle Seahawks have made some curious signings to say at the least this offseason. The team has shown that they’re willing to give young players second chances to reach their potential in a new scenery.

First, the team did this with ex-Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy. Now, it’s with ex-Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan, a former top-three pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Jordan finds himself heading to Seattle after a very disappointing career in Miami that included bad play and suspensions.

Jordan will get a fresh start with the Seahawks to rejuvenate his career.

Jordan was highly-regarded coming out of Oregon during the 2013 NFL Draft. Most viewed him as a fit in a 3-4 defensive scheme playing outside linebacker, but in Seattle he’ll continue playing defensive end in a 4-3 scheme like he did in Miami.

Jordan missed the entire 2015 season due to violating the NFL’s PED policy. He followed that up missing the entire 2016 season with an knee injury.

The writing was on the wall for Jordan’s tenure in Miami when the Dolphins Vice President of Football Operations Mike Tannenbaum stated that Jordan hasn’t worked out for the team, via the Palm Beach Post.

"“It’s pretty obvious,” Tannenbaum said. “We’ll keep evaluating our roster and make moves when we feel it’s appropriate.”"

Jordan has three sacks total in his career, which have come in only 26 games where he only made one total start for Miami.

It’ll be interesting to see if Jordan bounces back in Seattle. Given their culture and player development, it’s not out of the realm of possibilities.

Jordan will have to prove his worth during training camp and preseason to earn a roster spot still.

The Seahawks are solidified at the starting defensive end spot with Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett. They also have 2015 second-round pick Frank Clark, who they’re very high on, prepared to be the heir apparent to one of those starters.

Jordan gets a second chance, which doesn’t come often for players of his production with that draft spot and suspensions on top of it. Let’s see if he can make the most of it.
