The Montreal Canadiens face the New York Rangers in game one of their NHL playoff series at the Bell Centre on Wednesday, April 12.

The NHL playoffs get underway with an original six matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Rangers. After missing the playoffs a season ago, the Canadiens won the Atlantic division. The Rangers qualified for the playoffs through the wildcard, finishing fourth in the Metropolitan division.

Since New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist entered the NHL, he has been one of the best goalies in the league. However, Lundqvist struggles in games at the Bell Centre. The 35-year old is coming off of his worst season with the Rangers. If New York wants to advance they need their Swedish netminder to steal at least one game on the road.

The Rangers were the highest scoring team in the NHL during the regular season. In game one they face the Canadiens defense that allowed the fourth-fewest goals during the regular season. The Canadiens are dependent on one of the NHL’s best goalies Carey Price. If Montreal is going to beat the Rangers they need Price to be on his game to make up for the Canadiens lack of offense. Montreal was the fourth lowest scoring playoff team in the regular season.
