Jarvis Landry believes the Miami Dolphins will have the New England Patriots’ number in 2017.

Jarvis Landry believes the Miami Dolphins will sweep the New England Patriots in 2017. Landry made the prediction to a crowd during an NFL event in London, and discussed his comments in an interview with Peter King of Sports Illustrated’s “Monday Morning Quarterback:”

"“If you’re a competitor, that’s the way you should feel, and I don’t mind saying it,” Landry said. “It’s time for a change. I have all the respect in the world for the Patriots, and I respect Tom Brady tremendously. But they’re not our big brother anymore.”"

The Dolphins were, in fact, swept by New England in 2016 by a combined score of 66-48, as the Patriots haven’t been beaten twice in the same season by a team in their division since 2002, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Landry went on to say he has tremendous faith in second year head coach Adam Gase, who led the Dolphins to a 10-6 record and a wild card playoff berth in his first year with Miami.  The Dolphins will enter Gase’s second season with expectations higher than we’ve seen in years.

It is nice to see some fire from Landry, because we’d all like to see players speak their mind more often. That being said, it may not be a wise idea to provide Tom Brady and company with any extra motivation.  The Patriots are expected to field, unbelievably, one of the most talented rosters of the Brady-Belichick era, and beating them once, let alone twice, won’t be easy.

Miami is seeking consecutive playoff appearances for the first time since the 21st century came to be, but it is well-positioned. The Dolphins have an excellent coach in Gates and did well this offseason, retaining receiver Kenny Stills when many believed he would leave via free agency.
