NHL playoffs 2017: Penguins vs. Blue Jackets TV schedule
The first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs will feature a rivalry series between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Here’s the full television schedule.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs are officially underway. In the first round, one of the most underrated rivalries in the NHL will be on display. The Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets will be squaring off as the second and third seeds in the Metropolitan Division. While the league’s playoff format might not reward the best teams, it provides great drama such as this series.
Pittsburgh and Columbus had some excellent games this season. The season series went back and forth with each team having a 2-1-1 record against the other. Sidney Crosby and Brandon Dubinsky have a lot of disdain for each other and it has spread to both teams. The Pens are trying to repeat as Stanley Cup champions. However, they’ll have their work cut out for them and they’ll be tested very early by the physical Blue Jackets.
On the other side of the ice, Columbus is in the postseason for just the third time in franchise history. The Blue Jackets have never won a playoff series, with two first round exits in their previous appearances. However, led by goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and star forward Cam Atkinson, Columbus will look to pull off the minor upset. However, first they must right their ship. Since clinching, the Blue Jackets haven’t played well at all, losing five in a row entering Sunday April 9.
The two teams will officially start their first round series on Thursday. Here’s a complete television viewing schedule for their best of seven series.
