Ajax face Schalke at the Amsterdam Arena on Thursday, April 13. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Ajax hosts German club Schalke in the first leg of their Europa League quarterfinal. The Amsterdam-based club need to take advantage of home field in the first leg. Schalke need to win the first leg, but an away goal would be key to pick up if the Gelsenkirchen team are going to advance. The second leg is scheduled for April 20.

Ajax are chasing Feyenoord for the Eredivisie league title. In league play this season, Ajax have lost twice. Peter Bosz’s team won their group with four wins and two draws to advance in the competition. Ajax captain Davy Klaassen has 12 Eredivisie goals this season and is the reigning Dutch player of the year. The attacking midfielder will likely draw some interest from bigger teams in the summer transfer market. Jairo Riedewald will be in charge of the Ajax defense. The 20-year has one of the brightest futures of any Dutch player.

It has been a disappointing season for the Royal Blues in the Bundesliga this season. Schalke sit in the middle of the table and are chasing the last European position. Markus Weinzierl’s team advanced to the quarterfinals after winning their group. The Royal Blues won five of six games in the group stage. The strength of Schalke is their young midfield. Leon Goretzka, Max Meyer and Johannes Geis are all under 23 and will feature for future German teams at the World Cup.

Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar’s contract expires in the summer and is rumored to be interested in a return to his form club Ajax. Huntelaar played for Ajax from January 2006 until he was sold to Real Madrid in 2009. In 2010, Huntelaar arrived in Gelsenkirchen. In seven season with Schalke, Huntelaar has scored 125 goals in 233 games across all competitions.
