1. Brooklyn Nets

Aside from their beautiful arena and their new Brooklyn location, the Nets are a train wreck. The Nets were last sold in 2010. Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokorov bought the team when they were still in New Jersey for $365 million. They are now valued at $1.8 billion, the seventh-highest in the NBA. So, despite the poor on-court play and poor managerial decisions, this franchise can still bring in some money.

Prokorov had big plans when he bought the team. There was a ton of excitement. You had the move to Brooklyn, you had the Barclays Center, you had Jay-Z. He brought in a ‘win at all costs’ mentality.  Unfortunately, it was a swing and a miss. Almost every move they have made since then has fallen flat. The Nets now have no first round picks until 2021. They have the third worst average attendance, and they have the worst team in the league. It’s bad.

But, that doesn’t mean there’s not a chance for a new owner to come in and turn things around. It would take awhile, but it could be worth it down the road. The value of the Nets will more than likely only go up.

Prokorov has already come out earlier this season that he is looking to sell a minority stake in ownership, but still remain majority owner. Perhaps he’s had a change of heart. Maybe he’s ready to cash out  and give someone else a shot.
