A devoted Pittsburgh Penguins fan declined medical help after being stabbed because he wanted to see Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The NHL postseason brings out a lot of crazy fans. Hockey fans are one of the most devoted fanbases in all of sports. One diehard Pittsburgh Penguins fan loves his team so much, he declined medical attention because he didn’t want to miss Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 43 year old man suffered a head laceration after being stabbed with a screwdriver.

"Police said the victim refused treatment for the laceration from paramedics on the scene, stating he would drive himself to UPMC Mercy hospital at the end of the game, which he did."

His laceration was caused by a confrontation with another man. No arrests have been made yet in the case. Neither the victim’s nor the perpetrator’s identities are known as of now. However, this just goes to show how insane hockey fans are. Also, don’t question a hockey fan’s loyalty to his team, especially in the postseason.

Luckily for the man, his Penguins won 3-1 over the Columbus Blue Jackets. After a very slow first period, Pittsburgh woke up. Led by goals from Bryan Rust, Phil Kessel and Nick Bonino, the Pens flipped the script in Game 1. They won despite losing last postseason’s hero Matt Murray in warmups. Backup goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury started in his place, stopping all but one of the shots he saw. After the win, the victim was more than happy to get medical attention.
