2017 NFL Mock Draft: Can we trust the Cleveland Browns?
By John Buhler
Some team is going to fall in love with Forrest Lamp. Could John Elway channel his inner Brick Tamland and take the star offensive linemen out of Western Kentucky at No. 20? Let’s hope so. Outside of center Matt Paradis, who wants to stand behind that Broncos offensive line willingly?
Lamp played guard for the Hilltoppers in college. Western Kentucky won back-to-back Conference USA championships. It was the Brohm offense, no making its home at Purdue. Let’s not take anything away from the Hilltoppers player in Lamp.
He only took part in one day of the Senior Bowl down in Mobile, but Lamp proved to the many scouts at Ladd-Peebles Stadium that he was blue-chip offensive line prospect. His best game in college came against the best team in college in the Alabama Crimson Tide. He handled the ferocious Alabama pass rush, much like he will have to in the AFC West.
As a rookie, Lamp could play any of the four positions next to Paradis at center. With guys trying to make either Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch eat turf for breakfast, lunch and dinner like Joey Bosa, Justin Houston and Khalil Mack, yes, Denver needs to go offensive line at No. 20. Lamp will be a beacon of shining light on the Broncos offensive line for years to come.
