Former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee left the door open for a possible return to the company.

One of the most beloved WWE females in recent memory has made some headlines this week. AJ Lee, former WWE Divas Champion, spoke with CBS Sports recently and the topic of her return to the company was discussed.

Since her departure a couple of years back, AJ Brooks — who is married to former WWE star CM Punk — has been busy with a book tour. Her book, “Crazy Is My Superpower,” covers a wide portion of her personal life. But one specific question was asked during the interview, one that a lot of people would be interested to hear the answer.

"CBS: Wrestling’s old adage: never say never. I’m sure you are asked this all the time, so let me be the one millionth and one person to ask you this. Will we ever see AJ Lee back in a wrestling ring?Lee: I never would say that because I’ve personally said never to things before and done them. But I am so happy where I am right now and I feel like I had such a pitch perfect career that I would be nervous about tarnishing that. I feel like it’s kind of full-circle and perfect for exactly hat I wanted. But who knows?"

Her last appearance for WWE was in 2015, competing at WrestleMania 31. She continued to work for the company even after the much-publicized departure of her husband the year prior. Even today, fans around the country will chant “CM Punk” at the top of their lungs whenever the likes of Triple H or Stephanie McMahon are in the ring.

Lee made headlines in 2014 and 2015 by publicly demanding fair treatment and pay for the women of WWE. Stephanie McMahon acknowledged her efforts, and we have seen a vast improvement over the last couple of years. Can she be credited with getting the ball rolling on the women’s movement? Hard to tell, but she is definitely appreciative of what we see today.

Seeing AJ back in a WWE ring would be incredible, given that they company has moved from the “Divas” mentality and powered forward with a women’s revolution. Imagine the matches she could have with the likes of Sasha Banks, Charlotte, and even current WWE RAW Women’s Champion Bayley. But as the old saying goes …”never say never.”
