The New York Mets were playing the Miami Marlins in a marathon game on Thursday night. That all ended with one swing of the bat by the Mets’ Travis D’Arnaud, whose home run sent the Miami crowd home unhappily.
Five hours and 38 minutes into the game, the New York Mets were able to walk away victorious.
It was a Mets-Marlins game that featured 16 different pitchers, on a night where neither starter could go deep into the ballgame.

This was nothing short of sensational from D’Arnaud, who was 4-6 on the night, with 4 RBI’s. The Mets catcher has not had a great season thus far, batting .238, with only 5 RBI’s. But that’s the beauty of baseball, and D’Arnaud was spectacular in the batter’s box.
Tonight’s game started off with a bang, as the Marlins scored eight runs by the fifth inning, ending SP Robert Gsellman’s night.
The Mets battled back, as they got the tying run in the 8th, as Michael Conforto’s double scored D’Arnaud.
Then the Marlins and Mets went back and forth, pitching scoreless innings from the 9th to the 16th, up until D’Arnaud’s magical swing.
Mets’ SP Noah Syndergaard had the best reaction to D’Arnaud’s home run on Twitter:

This win brings the Mets to 7-3 on the season, as they lead the NL East early on in the season.
They continue the second game of their four-game set with the Marlins tomorrow, with Syndergaard to go for the Mets and Edinson Volquez for the Marlins.

Both teams will need their starters to pitch deep into the games, as the bullpens were used heavily tonight. But for now, goodnight thanks to D’Arnaud!
