Bayern Munich easily defeated Borussia Dortmund last Saturday, 4-1. The reigning German champions have a 10-point lead on RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga table. Bayer Leverkusen have had a disappointing season. Leverkusen were expected to qualify for Europe next season, but find themselves 12th in the table.
Bayern were all over Dortmund to start on Saturday. Captain Philipp Lahm’s cross found Franck Ribery, who scored in the fourth minute. Just six minutes later, Robert Lewandowski scored his first of two in the game. Raphael Guerreiro scored a beautiful goal in the 20th minute for Dortmund. But in the second half, Bayern put the game away. Arjen Robben scored four minutes into the second half as he cut to the middle and scored. In the 68th minute, Lewandowski scored his Bundesliga-leading 26th goal of the season to give Bayern the 4-1 win.
Bayer Leverkusen deserved a better result in their last Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig. Despite being down to 10 men, Leipzig were able to steal all three points. In the 93rd minute, Emil Forsberg was able to get behind the Leverkusen defense and set up Yussuf Poulsen for the easy tap in. After a strong second half, Leon Bailey could see more minutes for Leverkusen. The Jamaican international signed with the German side during the winter transfer window.
