In what should have been a highlight reel slam, Toronto Raptors All-Star shooting guard DeMar DeRozan clangs this dunk attempt off the rim.

When a team is playing the Milwaukee Bucks, it’s only natural to want to play above-the-rim like Giannis Antetokounmpo and his deer friends. Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan is usually lethal in the paint on offense, but not on this dunk attempt.

DeRozan attacked the rim with semi-conviction before meeting Bucks seven-foot wing Thon Maker in the restricted area during Saturday’s Game 1. Because Maker is starting to figure things out in the latter part of his rookie year, DeRozan got a little startled and clanged this dunk off the rim.

This is Game 1 of the Raptors’ 2017 Eastern Conference first round series with the Bucks. Toronto is the favorite to advance in this best-of-seven series, as the Raptors are the No. 3 seed and Milwaukee is only the No. 6 seed in the East.

However, Milwaukee’s length and raw athleticism could be problematic for the Raptors at times in this series. There is really no way that Toronto sweeps Milwaukee, no matter how talented the Raptors may be. It’s a testament to the arrival of the young Bucks under head coach Jason Kidd.

Though these two Eastern Conference teams play in lesser NBA markets, this should be a series that NBA fans in general can get excited about. The winner of this series could present a difficult challenge in the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the No. 2 Cleveland Cavaliers.

Then again, Cleveland struggled to beat the No. 7 Indiana Pacers at home. Cleveland has had its issues winning on the road. Toronto and Milwaukee can definitely steal a game or two in the road in that presumed second-round series. Let’s just hope that DeRozan doesn’t squander another dunk attempt that badly in the process for Toronto.
