Xherdan Shaqiri scored a stunning goal to seal Stoke’s 3-1 win over Hull in the Premier League on Saturday.

Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri was making just his 16th league start of the season on Saturday, as his Stoke side welcomed struggling Hull to the bet365 Stadium.

The home team were already in control of the match after 80 minutes, as they led 2-1. Goals from Marko Arnautovic and a trademark header from Peter Crouch either side of Harry Maguire’s equalizer for Hull meant that they looked likely to win the match with ten minutes to play.

Shaqiri wanted to make sure though, and did so in eye-catching style.

The former Inter Milan man had already set up the opening goal for Arnautovic, but his previous two goal attempts in the match were wasted. He had a blocked effort in the Hull box in the first half, and then he sent a free-kick wide of the goal after the break.

Shaqiri scored a wonder goal to settle the match after that though. It added to his reputation for being a scorer of great goals rather than a great goal scorer.

The 25-year-old has now scored seven goals in the Premier League for Stoke, and five of them have been from outside the penalty area. This includes all four of his goals in 2016-17, and three of those have now been against Hull. The Tigers will be very glad to see the back of him for this season.

Shaqiri is in great form right now. He set up the opening goal for Jon Walters in last week’s match against Liverpool which was his first appearance for Stoke since Jan. 21. He has now directly contributed to three goals in two matches for the first time in the Premier League.
