The Warriors playoff mantra this year is “Defend Our Ground.” Is this the Warriors way for gearing up for the Cleveland Cavaliers?

The Golden State Warriors are the NBA’s most loved and hated team for many reasons. For the some basketball fans, there’s a respect for the work Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant have done in terms of fluid basketball play on both ends of the court. On offense, the Warriors utilize small-ball tactics to spread the floor while also playing relentless defense.

For the latter, let’s just say some people are tired of Steph Curry. Also, it doesn’t help Kevin Durant decided to join them when according to the average basketball fan, he didn’t need to. The Warriors are coming off another successful regular season, finishing with a 67-15 record. Now, with a number one seed in tow, the Warriors begin their pilgrimage back to the NBA Finals. Their opponent? The Portland Trailblazers.

To gear up for their journey, they have shirts with the mantra “Defend Our Ground” for the fans to wear. Could this be a shot at the Cleveland Cavaliers? For taking what should have been theirs last season?

Defend Our Ground  is an interesting mantra to use, especially because the Warriors came up short in last season’s epic Finals rematch against the Cavaliers. It’s possible the Warriors are out for revenge, using this slogan as a way to remain focused. The Warriors were very close to completing one of the best title defenses in sports history. But, Draymond Green’s lack of self control, injuries and LeBron James helped stand in the way.

With the Warriors entering the playoffs healthy and with Durant, the Warriors are poised to bring home the title. That’s if Cleveland will be willing to relinquish their title.
