The Houston Texans are still in search of a quarterback and could be looking at drafting one in the upcoming NFL Draft.
The Texans need help at quarterback and Deshaun Watson might prove to be their guy for the future. After leading Clemson to the national championship over Alabama, Watson has been up and down mock draft boards but could find a home in Houston.
According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the two sides are scheduled for a meeting Monday and Tuesday.
What could easily be a match made in heaven for Watson relies heavily upon if the dual-threat quarterback can fall far enough for the Texans to snag him. With the No. 25 pick in the draft and the need for quality quarterback play in the NFL, it’s hard to imagine a quarterback with Watson’s abilities being around that long.
#Clemson QB Deshaun Watson flies to Houston tomorrow and is slated for a visit with the #Texans tomorrow and Tuesday, I'm told. They pick 25

Watson played in back-to-back National Championship Games while also passing for 10,168 yards, 90 touchdowns, and completing 67.4 percent of his passes in three years at Clemson. The Texans struck out with Brock Osweiler and missed out on Tony Romo due to retirement. Once labeled a quarterback whisperer, head coach Bill O’Brien needs more than Tom Savage and journeyman Brandon Weeden to lead his team’s offense.
The Texans have struggled to find a signal caller since the better days of Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson. They have one of the more talented receiving units in the NFL. DeAndre Hopkins is a top three receiver with the right quarterback, Will Fuller has stepped into his own and converted wide receiver, Braxton Miller has tremendous upside.
If the Texans can somehow move up in the draft or Watson falls within reach, it’d be in their best interest to gamble on a proven talent. The Texans’ pitch will start on Monday, but their dynasty could begin in a couple of weeks with the drafting of Watson.
