The Bears have invested a good amount of money into the quarterback position this offseason and they may not be done yet.

The Chicago Bears are heading into the season with a huge change on the offensive side of the ball.

The team has finally moved on from long-time starting quarterback Jay Cutler this offseason and brought in Mike Glennon to replace him in the starting role. The Bears also added Mark Sanchez as a former starter and veteran in Glennon’s ear, but they might not be done adding to the quarterback room just yet.

According to Dane Brugler of CBS Sports, the Bears could be the first team to select a quarterback in the first-round of the 2017 NFL Draft despite the addition of Glennon.

"“For many, once the Bears signed Mike Glennon, that eliminated the notion of Chicago drafting a quarterback at No. 3 overall,” Brugler says. “But there are several around the league who aren’t convinced, pointing to (Mitchell) Trubisky or (DeShaun) Watson as likely candidates.”"

This would be an interesting scenario, but definitely one that’s not out of the realm of possibilities. The way the Bears set up Glennon’s contract also hints that they could opt to go quarterback.

Looking at the dynamic of Glennon’s contract, the Bears could cut or trade him after the season and have $11.5 million in 2018 cap savings for a pre-June 1st cut or $12.5 million as a post-June 1st cut. If Glennon plays well in 2017, but struggles in 2018, the Bears could save $14 million in total releasing or trading him.

Dallas Cowboys beat writer Bryan Broaddus has also heard rumors that the Bears are targeting a quarterback with the third pick.

"“There’s a lot of rumors going around. There’s a lot of whispering going on right now about the Chicago Bears taking (quarterback) Mitch Trubisky at three,” Broaddus says. “I think that’s serious. But there’s some of them, you know, with Cleveland not knowing whether they’re going to take a quarterback or a defensive end. I think the Browns know exactly who they’re gonna take at one.”"
