Antonio Garcia

Tackle, Troy

Now that the Hawks hit their best player available, it is time to hit the needs hard. Anyone who watched the NFL last season can quickly point out the low spot on the Seahawks and the reason as to why they were not legitimate Super Bowl contenders like years before. Sure, Earl Thomas got hurt, but this team was going nowhere with the offensive line that they currently were fielding.

The team signed Luke Joeckel, but that is a prayer of a signing, and one with bad odds at that. Joeckel was labeled a bust and move from tackle to guard because Kelvin Beachum outplayed him. From there he got hurt and ended his season before the Seahawks likely overpaid him.

Even in overpaying him they should not be expecting a huge contribution from him. The Hawks tend to appreciate athletic and versatile lineman, and Garcia is that. However, while the Hawks usually find a project in that athlete, Garcia is an athlete that is technically sound on top of that. He is a bit thin, and his best fit may be at right tackle, but that just means Joeckel can get his chance to start while Garcia also has a chance to start in year one. It is a good fit, and in a poor offensive line class, the Seahawks may get one of the better tackles in the second round with Antonio Garcia.
