The Ottawa Senators face the Boston Bruins in game 3 of their NHL playoff series at the TD Garden on Monday, April 17.

After two periods it looked like the Boston Bruins would be returning to TD Garden with a two game lead in their best of seven series. The Bruins were all over the Senators for the first two periods and entered the third period with a 3-1 lead. However, the Ottawa Senators rallied with goals from Chris Wideman and Derick Brassard to force overtime. In overtime, Dion Phaneuf scored the game-winning goal.

However, the Ottawa Senators rallied with goals from Chris Wideman and Derick Brassard to force overtime. In overtime, Dion Phaneuf scored the game-winning goal. Phaneuf was excellent for the Senators, adding assists on both third-period goals.

The teams now head to Boston with one win a piece. Through two games, the Senators and Bruins have been very evenly matched. In most statistical categories, there is very little separating the two teams. This series will be decided by the team who makes fewer mistakes.

Ottawa may be without defenseman Mark Borowiecki, who left game 2 with a lower body injury. The Senators have listed Borowiecki’s injury as day-to-day. If Borowiecki can not play, expect Fredrik Claesson to draw back into the lineup. Claesson played in game 1 but was replaced in game 2 by Marc Methot, who returned from injury.
