The San Francisco 49ers have 11 draft picks to play with in the 2017 NFL Draft. Here’s a full seven-round mock draft using these picks to quickly improve the team.

Just three years ago, the San Francisco 49ers appeared to be in very good shape. They were coming off a 12-4 season and only a last minute miracle by Richard Sherman kept them from making it to the Super Bowl. However, the departure of head coach Jim Harbaugh led to the 49ers spiraling downward. In 2017, they got just two wins.

With a massive overhaul of their coaching staff and front office, the rebuild is officially underway. New general manager John Lynch will have nine picks to start the rebuild with. If he plays his cards right, the 49ers could expedite the painful process by adding talent in the draft. San Francisco has the second, 34th, 66th, 109th, 143rd, 146th, 161st, 202nd and 219th overall picks. This mock draft will be done with the help of draft simulator On The Clock.

Solomon Thomas

Defensive End, Stanford

This assumes the San Francisco 49ers keep the second overall pick. They’re reportedly exploring trading it. If the 49ers can get either the Titans or Saints to give them both of their first rounders (plus more in the latter’s case), this would net them more top talent. However, if they don’t trade it, Solomon Thomas is the best pick for the 49ers here.

Unless the Cleveland Browns don’t draft Myles Garrett, he’s the best player available. Thomas is an excellent player who should be an immediate three down lineman for the 49ers. San Francisco has needs all across the board, so drafting the best player available is a must at every juncture. Off the field, Thomas nets them a talent Californians are familiar with, which is never a bad thing. On the field, he’ll help to form what Lynch hopes to be his future defense.
