Taking a look to see if there will be a new episode of Empire tonight, April 19, as season 3 is heating up and headed toward a wild finish
Empire season 3 has most definitely seen its shares of ups and downs to this point. Perhaps a product of the longer seasons, possibly due to the midseason break, or just maybe a result of the show running out of material, the high-intensity drama hasn’t been consistent. With that said, there has been a slow build in several regards in the show.
After four episodes since the midseason return and with just a few episodes remaining, we’re nearing the end of that build. Once we get there, things are going to pop off in a big way. With Andre still plotting to murder Lucious Lyon — with the help of Shyne no less — that’s the big domino left to fall.
However, there are plenty of other pieces that are moving across the Empire season 3 chessboard that are far from settled in their square. There still feels like there’s more to come from the relationship between Angelo and Cookie. With his increasing position of power and her lust for such things, it’s never going to be simple. Meanwhile, it’s hard to think that the Anika situation is going to end with everyone still alive.
As stated, this is all leading to something. What exactly it’s leading to, how we take the final steps to get there, and who else comes into the picture all remains to be seen. However, wanting to find the answers to these questions on Empire is what’s driving the season forward currently. But will we have to wait another week to get one step closer. Specifically, is Empire new tonight, Wednesday, April 19?

Unfortunately, there won’t be a new episode in Empire season 3 tonight. Instead, it will be a re-run of the midseason premiere, “Sound & Fury.” However, the show will return with a new episode in one week on April 26.
