There’s speculation that a couple of teams do have the OK to draft Joe Mixon.
The 2017 NFL Draft is only eight days away. One of the biggest headlines revolving around the draft is which team takes a risk bringing in Oklahoma’s stud running back Joe Mixon.
Mixon was caught on camera assualting a female and the video was leaked during the 2016 collegiate season. The incident transpired in 2014 but has since blown up due to the huge domestic violence issue that has been an ongoing one in the NFL for quite some time.
NBC’s Josh Norris appeared on Pro Football Talk this afternoon and announced he’s heard there are several teams that have received permission from their owners to pick Mixon.
"“I’ve heard the Saints, I’ve heard the Vikings have done a ton of homework, pro days and a visit as well, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Oakland Raiders,” Norris said. “There might be a few more here and there.”"
Each of those teams have somewhat of a need at running back and could add Mixon’s exact skill set to their backfields. Norris also went on to leak who he’s heard has the most interest in the talented yet troubled running back.
"“If I were to peg a few that are interested the most, the Bengals, absolutely, early I think at like pick No. 41 in the second round and the Philadelphia Eagles in round two as well.”"
Many seem to view Mixon as the best running back in the entire draft this year. The interest he’s receiving shouldn’t come as much of a surprise due to his talent.
This report from Norris, especially on Mike Florio’s show, was interesting. Florio reported yesterday that Mixon could be sliding down draft boards. This news from Norris seems to be the opposite.
