That GLORIOUS theme we hear for NXT Champion Bobby Roode almost went to Shinsuke Nakamura.

If you were to poll professional wrestling fans, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone out there who doesn’t thoroughly enjoy NXT Champion Bobby Roode’s “Glorious Domination” theme music. From the moment the piano hits, the crowd goes absolutely bonkers in every arena, even though Roode is one of the best heels in the company right now.

However, that theme almost wasn’t available for use for Roode when he entered the company last year. No, there was a chance that by the time he got there, it could have belonged to another high-profile acquisition that joined the company in 2016.

According to Dave Meltzer and the Wrestling Observer (subscription required), the “Glorious Domination” theme was originally presented to Roode’s future rival for the NXT title, Shinsuke Nakamura. Yes, you read that correctly.

Now there’s something to think about. After a year of getting all giddy for Nakamura when we hear the violin opening of “The Rising Sun,” could you possibly imagine the King of Strong Style coming out to the theme that currently belongs to Roode? Sure, we love Roode’s theme and all, but knowing what we know now, it just seems … well, really weird to think of it being used by Shinsuke Nakamura.

Thankfully for us all, Nakamura didn’t like what he was hearing and turned the theme down, so we have what we have now. Everything definitely worked out in the end, and we were recently treated to a feud where we could hear both of those awesome musical pieces played for the same match.

All is right in the world with the way this played out, so let’s all please stop trying to imagine Nakamura using Roode’s “Glorious Domination.” Okay yeah, I know, I’m not the only one that can’t get the image out of my head.
