LeBron James answers questions about rapper Kendrick Lamar following a historic night in the NBA Playoffs.

The Cleveland Cavaliers successfully mounted a 26-point second half comeback to overcome the largest halftime deficit in NBA playoff history tonight. LeBron James played a vital role, leading the charge with a 41-point triple-double.

However, the King’s astounding numbers and unbelievable comeback were not enough to headline the post-game interview.

In the interview, one reporter decided to take an interesting angle and ask James about something that quite frankly had nothing to do with basketball — Kendrick Lamar.

The question asked to James related to Lamar’s new album, DAMN. James has been seen advertising the album on his social media for nearly a week, posting multiple videos of himself head-bobbing to Lamar’s lyrics.

Lamar released his album to multiple individuals before the public release and on that shortlist was none other than James. LeBron, visibly caught off-guard by the question, took a deep breath and thoroughly responded. Strangely enough, the King talked for over a minute about Lamar as an artist and about the new album.

James began by noting that he has had the album on repeat since it was sent to him nearly a week ago.

Afterward, LeBron stated that Lamar is an incredible talent. He praised the young rapper’s ability to write lyrics before giving the audience a deeper connection.

James went on to say that Lamar’s new album hits home for him. The Compton-born rapper’s lyrics have depicted the struggles of African-American youth in inner cities; a topic in which the King can relate to.

In addition, James touched on how amazing Lamar was, as both an artist and a person.

Only James knows what truly inspired his 41-point performance in a historic comeback. However, whatever it may have been, Lamar’s music surely played a part in motivating King James.

The Cavaliers will look to complete the series sweep of the Pacers on Sunday, April 23.
