The 2017 NFL regular season schedule was released on Thursday night, and this season is sure to be full of incredible matchups from Week 1 on.
The time has come, as the 2017 NFL regular schedule was released to the public on Thursday night. The season will kick off on Thursday, September 7, as the two top teams in the AFC from a year ago will do battle. The New England Patriots will play host to the Kansas City Chiefs, in a matchup of two teams who should be headed back to the playoffs in 2017. The Pats were the No. 1 seed in the AFC Playoffs last season, while the Chiefs finished at No. 2.
Speaking of the Patriots, they made their trip to the White House on Wednesday, and quarterback Tom Brady was noticeably absent. In his speech about the team, President Donald Trump did not mention Brady’s name, which is incredible considering he was the Most Valuable Player in the Super Bowl. Brady and Trump’s friendship was well documented during the President’s run to the White House, with Brady even keeping a “Make America Great Again” hat in his locker.
As we turn the page to next week’s NFL Draft, all eyes are on the prospects who will likely go in the early rounds. Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer is considered by many to be the most physically gifted player at his position in the draft class, and he had some high praise of himself on Thursday. Kizer feels he can be the best quarterback in history, as he thinks he is a combination of Tom Brady’s mind, and Cam Newton’s body. So much for modesty.
From one potential first round pick, to another, as Reuben Foster found himself in the news once again on Thursday. Foster was asked to leave the NFL Scouting Combine after getting into an altercation with a hospital worker, and now it appears we may know why. The star linebacker from Alabama failed the drug test at the combine, as he was ruled to have a diluted urine sample. In the NFL, a diluted sample is the equivalent of a failed drug test. Foster is falling fast in terms of first round slotting.

Finally, the tragic end to Will Smith’s life got a bit of closure on Thursday, as his killer was sentenced to 25 years in prison for manslaughter. One of the favorites in New Orleans, Smith was killed in the street after an argument with Cardell Hayes, a 29-year old former semi-pro football player. Smith’s wife was also shot during the argument, but was able to escape without life threatening injuries.
