Unicorn Frappucino: Starbucks baristas melt down on social media over sugary drink
The Unicorn Frappucino has people inching towards diabetes, and has baristas all over the country going into meltdown mode.
If you’re someone who is in the mood to get diabetes before you turn 50, then the Starbucks Unicorn Frappucino is for you. With a ridiculous amount of sugar per serving (more than 50 grams in a small!), and stuffed with more potentially carcinogenic food dye than in the Dow chemical plant, this latest drink trend looks like it just exists for Instagram likes, and tastes like sweet, merciful death.
Apparently, the Starbucks Unicorn Frappucino has the baristas going into meltdown mode, too. According to The Washington Post, the drink has sold out in several Starbucks locations, and this has caused customers to freak out.
The drink has also caused baristas to freak out, too. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Denver barista Braden Burston posted a video (which has now been deleted) ranting about the drink, claiming that it’s messy and hard to make.
"“Please don’t get it!” he said in the video. “I have unicorn crap all in my hair and on my nose. I have never been so stressed out in my entire life.”"
Starbucks released a statement saying that they would talk to Burston to see how to make his “Unicorn Frappucino” experience better, but Burston isn’t the only one who’s disgusted by the sight of fake colors and straight shots of sugar. Apparently, there’s a Reddit forum dedicated to baristas, and one by one have been coming in and flipping out about the concoction. From calling it “straight hell” to giving the drink the middle finger emoji (welcome to the 21st century!), baristas aren’t feeling the unicorn love.
