After losing midweek in Champions League, Borussia Dortmund will look to rebound against Monchengladbach on Saturday. Dortmund currently sit fourth in the Bundesliga table, while Gladbach sit ninth.
Marco Reus returned to the lineup last week against Frankfurt. It took Reus just two minutes to score as Dortmund went on to win 3-1. Thomas Tuchel fielded a questionable starting lineup in Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Monaco. Dortmund started Erik Durm and Nuri Sahin over Ousmane Dembele and Marcel Schmelzer. After Monaco scored twice in the opening 17 minutes, Tuchel was forced to bring on Dembele in the 27th minute for Durm. Dortmund would go on to lose 3-1.
With five games remaining, Monchengladbach sit within two points of a European qualification spot. In their previous game, Gladbach faced third place Hoffenheim. Hoffenheim jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 24 minutes with a brace from Adam Szalai. Monchengladbach tied the game going into halftime with goals from Jannik Vestergaard and Lars Stindl. Kerem Demirbay bounced in a free-kick before Mark Uth scored a beautiful goal from outside of the box to give Hoffenheim a 4-2 lead. Three minutes later Mahmoud Dahoud gave Monchengladbach life again, but Demirbay scored his second goal of the game to give Hoffenheim a 5-3 win.
