The Cleveland Browns are still considering drafting quarterback Mitch Trubisky with the first pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

The Cleveland Browns have made a ton of questionable draft decisions in recent years, and they may not be done yet. It was reported by Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot that the team is still strongly considering taking UNC quarterback Mitch Trubisky over Texas A&M pass rusher Myles Garrett, who most experts have as their consensus first overall pick.

If Cleveland does in fact draft Trubisky first over Garrett, the teams choosing behind them won’t have an issue with it. Trubisky was only a starter at North Carolina for one season, but he put up a remarkable stat line. He passed for 3,748 yards, to go along with 30 touchdowns and only six interceptions. College stats can be a bit deceiving at times, but to put up those kind of numbers in the ACC is still an impressive accomplishment.

Trubisky does have question marks surrounding him though, and although he would be filling a need for the Browns, he may not be ready to contribute right away. Garrett on the other hand has been called a once in a generation type force on the defensive side of the ball, and could help the Browns right from the get go.

In FanSided’s latest NFL mock draft, Garrett was described as a player who has a rare blend of size and speed who could upgrade a Browns pass rush that has been nonexistent for the last decade or so. For any other team, it would be considered a huge shock if Garrett was not selected first overall, but with the Browns it has unfortunately been the norm for their unorthodox method of drafting. Trubisky projects to be a solid quarterback, but Garrett has far more upside.
