Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr missed the team’s last game due to an illness, and sources are saying he may be out longer.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr missed game three of the series against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday due to an illness, and ESPN’s Marc Stein reported the cause of the illness is still unknown. Golden State went on to win game three anyway without their coach, but it is still concerning given the fact that Kerr has been feeling under the weather all week.

The Warriors were down big during the first half of game three, as one of their best players, Kevin Durant, missed the game as well. The Warriors had a huge third quarter to start the second half of the game, and ultimately came back to win and take a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Blazers.

Stephen Curry made sure to grab the game ball after their win, so he can present it to Kerr as tribute for their efforts. Curry told ESPN reporter J.A. Adande after the game that “‎Our coach is going through a lot right now, physically, he told us this morning this is a situation where we need to rally and go out and win a game for him.”

A remarkable gesture from the two-time MVP to his coach. Golden State will continue to be led by assistant coach Mike Brown, who has plenty of head coaching experience during his time on the bench in the NBA. With the talent on the Warriors roster though, it does not seem to matter who is behind their bench calling out plays. Although, it would be nice to see Kerr healthy and out there coaching his great team in the near future.
