Did Marc Gasol’s Game 4 heroics against the Spurs send a Grizzlies fan into labor?

According to Brandon White, who was at FedEx Forum for Game 4 in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs to watch his Memphis Grizzlies take on the San Antonio Spurs, Marc Gasol’s game-winner sent his wife into labor.

As Gasol collected a pass from Mike Conley at the right elbow, turned and nailed a fadeaway with two seconds left in overtime, the excitement was too much for baby Archer Ellis, who clearly wanted to celebrate with his family.

Unfortunately for Brandon, his wife wouldn’t accept Conley or Marc as potential names for their newborn, but I want to congratulate the White family on a beautiful baby.

Fittingly, the first burp cloth for Archer Ellis would feature a favorite quote in David Fizdale’s epic rant after dropping Game 2 after the Spurs doubled up the Grizzlies in free throw attempts.

I honestly don’t know what Marc Gasol is going to do for an encore. Is he going to carry the Grizzlies a Game 5 win over the Spurs? Is he going to carry his team into the semis? Will he take his team to the Western Conference Finals, face off against the Warriors and drop the hammer over Draymond Green with two seconds left in Game 7 for the win and head to the NBA Finals?

If so, we are going to have to keep a close eye on the birth rates in Memphis nine months later for a piece on the “NBA Finals babies.”

In the end, that family is going to have an amazing story to tell for the rest of Archer Ellis’ life. My fingers are crossed that the next story that comes out of the White household is that Archer will only stop crying when he sees Blake Griffin and the rival Clippers on the TV.
