O.J. Howard

Tight End, Alabama Crimson Tide

This pick is the pivot point of the draft for many teams. After nabbing Myles Garrett with their first pick to fortify the defense, the Browns have a choice to make at No. 12. Do they try for a franchise quarterback take either Deshaun Watson, Mitchell Trubisky or Patrick Mahomes, or do they go with the best player available? General manager Sashi Brown has long talked about resisting the urge to reach, and he does so again here. Instead of going for a quarterback, Cleveland takes the top talent in tight end IO.J. Howard, who has all the makings of a superstar in the league.

With Howard and Garrett in the fold, Brown could try to trade back into the back end of the first round and land the quarterback his franchise so desperately needs. The Browns would likely be able to grab one of the top three quarterbacks in the draft if they can get in front of the Houston Texans, who pick No. 25 overall. Cleveland could also wait until the start of the second day adn take someone like DeShone Kizer or Davis Webb at No. 33. The Browns are going to have a ton of options here, but Howard is the best of them.
