For the first time in six seasons, the Denver Broncos watched the playoffs with the rest of us. After winning a title in 2015, Denver slid back to 9-7 in 2016, mostly due to a dip in quarterback play and increased problems up front. The Broncos have already invested at quarterback recently in the first round, landing Paxton Lynch a year ago. Due to that, general manager John Elway should be looking exclusively at the offensive line, leading him to Ryan Ramczyk.
Ramczyk is the best offensive lineman in this class, which is an admittedly weak group. One could argue for Forrest Lamp or Garett Bolles, but Ramczyk appears most ready to get into a starting job this season. Denver desperately needs to shore up this unit, and can’t afford to start Donald Stephenson and Menelik Watson come Week 1. Trevor Siemian doesn’t have much mobility and while Lynch can get outside the pocket, he needs stability to grow into the role of franchise quarterback. Don’t expect an immediate star here, but Ramczyk should learn throughout the year and become a stalwart on a line that needs one in the worst way.
