The Miami Dolphins have mostly been adrift since Dan Marino retired following the 1999 season. Suddenly, things have appeared to change with the hiring of head coach Adam Gase, who has the franchise hurtling in the right direction. After starting 1-4 last season, the Dolphins were able to go 10-6, despite losing Ryan Tannehill in December to a knee injury. Miami ultimately lost in the AFC Wild Card round to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but seems poised to make a move deeper into January.
In that vein, the Dolphisn have to add some talent to the offensive line. Mike Pouncey is an elite center (when healthy) and Laremy Tunsil is the future at left tackle, but the guards are both shoddy. Forrest Lamp played tackle at Western Kentucky but projects as an above-average guard at the next level, and would fit into Gase’s scheme nicely. The youngster has good feet and should be able to block in space, while also showing ability as a pass-blocker. If Miami can finally build a good pocket for Tannehill and some running lane for Jay Ajayi, it could make noise beyond a quick playoff exit.
