The Cowboys shocked most everyone last year. Dallas went 13-3 and won the NFC East, largely on the backs of rookies Ezekiel Elliott Prescott. This year, owner/general manager Jerry Jones will be picked much further back into the rounds. Jones has to be thinking about the defense in some capacity with this pick, whether it be the front seven or secondary. Considering the board, Jones could opt for a corner such as Tre’Davious White or Kevin King, but a pass-rusher gets the vote here.
Charles Harris was stellar at Missouri throughout his time in Columbia. In 2015, Harris was able to notch seven sacks before coming back in 2016 with nine more. At 6-foot-3 and 253 pounds, Harris fits the mold of an edge rusher who can either stand up or put his hand in the dirt. Dallas ranked 13th in the NFL last year with 36 sacks, but nobody had more than six. If the Cowboys want to challenge for their sixth Lombardi Trophy, their defense needs to improve. With Harris in tow, the Cowboys can then look for secondary help in the second round.
