24. Busch Stadium

  • Year Opened: 2006
  • Capacity: 45,529
  • Defining Features: views of the Gateway Arch

This is now the third iteration of Busch Stadium in St. Louis, but it is the best by a wide margin. Busch Stadium III does what Busch Stadium II could not — provide stunning views of the Gateway Arch, the most striking landmark in St. Louis.

The previous Busch Stadium was a multi-purpose cookie cutter that did not allow fans to look out to the skyline and the arch. The top of the upper deck was ringed by arches, but there were no exterior views. You could have been sitting in any city in America. This new park is a huge upgrade for one of baseball’s proudest franchises.

Stan Musial’s bronze statue is located at one of the entrances. The other statues that were located at the old stadium have been moved to a separate location. Musial warrants that type of singular treatment. On most nights, Busch Stadium is alive with baseball talk from educated and passionate fans (although good luck convincing them that Yadier Molina is not the greatest catcher who ever lived).

The former site of Busch Stadium is being converted to residential buildings in a ballpark village. Sure, the price tag might be hefty, but it’s worth it to be that close to the park.
