Competing countries in Overwatch World Cup have been finalized

Did your favorite country make the cut?

The first phase of the 2017 Overwatch World Cup has come to an end. After endless hours of gameplay, the 32 countries that will be competing in the competition have been announced.

Countries were ranked by the average skill rating of their top 100 players, and had until today to get that as high as possible before the rankings were set in stone.

Here is the complete list of countries who will move on to the next phase of the World Cup, accompanied by their average skill rating:

Six of the top eight teams on this list were the top eight teams in the Overwatch World Cup last year. Of the 16 teams who made it to group play at BlizzCon in 2016, all except Chile and Taiwan made the cut.

The reigning champion, South Korea, sits at number two on this list. They were the heavy favorite last year and blazed through both group play and the finals without losing a single match. Russia, who finished second in 2016, is 10th. Sweden and Finland, who finished third and fourth respectively last year, are fourth and fifth in skill rating.

Thailand, a team that became a fan favorite after its outgoing players schmoozed the cameras, has also made the cut at number 24.
