Heading into the 2016 NFL season, many believed the Kansas City Chiefs had the talent to be a serious contender in the AFC West. Well, the team did more than just contend, they won the division, clinching the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs. The excitement was short-lived, however, as they were bounced out of the playoffs at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In 2017, the Chiefs figure to be a big-time player in the AFC once again, and spent their offseason locking up their best asset on defense, Eric Berry. With the No. 27 overall pick in the first round, we expect the Chiefs to continue to build their defense, though some experts like them taking a quarterback. The Chiefs have 10 picks in this year’s draft, which would have been 11 if they did not have to forfeit a sixth-round pick for violating the anti-tampering rules back in 2015.
Head coach Andy Reid is a good judge of talent, and this may be the best team he has had since his Philadelphia Eagles team that made it to the Super Bowl. The journey back to the playoffs begins on Thursday night, and by Saturday, we should have a good picture of what this team is going to look like in 2017.

Will the Chiefs repeat in the AFC West in 2017? That is the big question in Kansas City, as they certainly have the talent to do just that.
