The reigning Super Bowl champions have seven draft picks in the 2017 NFL Draft. Here’s an updated draft order for the New England Patriots.

Despite winning the Super Bowl, the New England Patriots aren’t taking much time to celebrate. They’ve been very busy this offseason, acquiring a lot of talent. This includes Brandin Cooks from the New Orleans Saints and pass rusher Kony Ealy from the Carolina Panthers. To get the former, the Pats gave up their first round pick.

In order to acquire the latter, they gave up their second round pick but gained a third round pick. The Pats also gave up their fourth round pick to the Indianapolis Colts to get Dwayne Allen and a sixth round pick.

So while the Patriots have seven draft picks, none of them rank in the top 70. Considering the talent they got for their top two picks, that’s justifiable. Bill Belichick doesn’t need high draft picks to get quality players. He obsesses over football and is one of the very few people who thrives despite the duality of his role with the Pats. Here’s the updated draft order for the New England Patriots.

Round 3 – 72nd overall
Round 3 – 96th overall
Round 3 – 103rd overall
Round 4 – 137th overall
Round 5 – 163rd overall
Round 5 – 183rd overall
Round 7 – 239th overall

The Patriots only have one pick which is their own. This goes to show how insane the Pats trades are. They trade way more than any other team. It’s sort of impressive how Belichick traded all but one of his own picks and still has seven draft picks. And the Pats traded for all but one of those six picks that aren’t their own.
