2017 NFL Mock Draft: Defense rules the day
By Brad Weiss
For the Indianapolis Colts, the 2016 NFL season was a roller coaster, but they were still in the mix for a playoff spot late. Eventually, the team missed out on the playoffs for a second straight year, and their star quarterback was hit far too often. The offensive line struggled to protect Luck the last two season, and in January, he had surgery on his shoulder due to an injury that occurred early in the 2015 season against the Tennessee Titans.
Luck will be back at 100 percent next season, and the Colts have done a nice job bringing in talented players so far this offseason. One area the team needs serious help is getting after the quarterback, as they were exploited far too often last season. Haason Reddick is a guy who is going to be an impact player at the NFL level, and the Colts have not had a player of his skill set in quite some time.
The AFC South is going to be up for grabs next season, and the Colts should always at least be decent with Luck under center. The Colts have a ton of holes on the roster, but adding Reddick would cure a lot of what ailed them on defense in 2016. The division keeps getting better, and if Indy can bring in a player who can terrorize quarterbacks, they should bridge the gap between them and the Texans and Titans.
