With the first-overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns selected Myles Garrett out of Texas A&M University.

Plain and simple, Myles Garrett is one of the best prospects to come into the NFL this century. Garrett was absolutely dominant throughout his career with the Texas A&M Aggies, reminding many of another former Aggie in Von Miller.

Should Garrett have a career anything like Miller or his idol, Derrick Thomas, Browns fans should be thrilled. Cleveland is desperately trying to get back to respectability, and this is a huge step in that direction. While there have been questionable first round picks from past regimes by the lake, this is a no-brainer for general manager Sashi Brown.

Combine measurements

Height: 6’4”
Weight: 272
40-time: 4.64
Bench: 33 reps
Vertical: 41”
Broad: 128”

Garrett was a first-team All-America and first-team All-SEC, destroying any and all competition to the tune of 8.5 sacks in 11 games. Throughout his three years in College Station, Garrett was a starter each campaign and was a force, racking up 32.5 combined sacks.

At the combine, Garrett erased any doubts by posting the best number at his position on the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump and broad jump.

The Browns made some people sweat it out, but this was the easiest pick to make for this franchise in some time. There are the looming picks from the past that include Brandon Weeden, Trent Richardson, Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel, but Garrett comes into the organzation with much better prospects than any of the aforementioned.
