Denver Broncos select Garett Bolles
With the 20th-overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Garett Bolles out of the University of Utah.
In a weak class for offensive linemen, Bolles stands out as one of the few who can play right away. His size is average at 297 pounds (perhaps even below average, if 297 pounds can be categorized as that) but he should continue to fill out with a 6-foot-5 frame. Bolles showed how athletic he is in the Scouting Combine, running a 40-yard dash sub-5.00 time.
There is plenty to like about Bolles when you turn on the film. For starters, he is a technician. Nobody is able to move across the line as well as into space as Bolles in this class, showcasing natural footwork. Some of this was evident in his 3-cone drill, which was the best of any offensive lineman.
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 297
40-time: 4.95
Bench: N/A
Vertical: 28”
Broad: 115”
3-cone: 7.29
The first-team Pac-12 member does have some work to do. As mentioned above, he does need to get bigger to take on some of the defensive ends and outside linebackers screaming off the edge. He should be able to handle a speed rush well, but the bull rush could give him problems until he adds strength. When looking at Bolles, you see a similar player to Eric Fisher of the Kansas City Chiefs, who struggled initially but has turned into a quality tackle.

If there is any other concern, it is Bolles already being 24 years old. Most players come out and are 21 or 22, leaving little wiggle room for Bolles to wait around and develop. His career is already on a quick clock.
